 Synergistic Activities
(i) Extensive voluntary service to professional societies: Associate Technical Editor for ASME Journal of Tribology and STLE Tribology Transactions; Fellow of ASME and STLE; Chair of the Honors and Awards Committee of the Tribology Division (ASME); Director of STLE Board; Chair of the Structures & Dynamics Committee and Chair of the International Gas Turbine Institute.
(ii) Member of Technical Advisory Committees for Turbomachinery Symposium, Middle Eastern Turbomachinery Symposium, and Chair Asia Turbomachinery& Pump Symposium. These are the largest events in the O&G industry combining extensive industrial exhibits with a strong state of the art technical content.
(iii) Established a gas foil bearing program with sustained industrial funding since 2002. Predictive software licensed by all manufacturers and end users of foil bearings. See above for best paper awards on the subject.
(iv) Developed the most advanced predictive tools for squeeze film damper performance along with experimental facilities.
